How We Create New POTG Dishes + A Survey!
Why was Paleo On The Go started?
That is a great question. To make a long story short, our founder and CEO Dave Rohde was nothing short of a visionary. In 2011, he had recently found that he needed to eat paleo because of various health conditions he was experiencing. When he adopted a real food diet, many of his symptoms improved or fully disappeared. The problem? The food wasn’t easy or convenient to make everyday. That’s when the lightbulb went off to develop a national meal delivery service!
The process of brainstorming (comfort, nutrition, time consumption at home)
So, now that you know WHY POTG started, the question is, how do we figure out what dishes we should sell? It’s not as simple as you might think! Whenever we have to decide on a new dish, we look at multiple factors including (but not limited to) how much a “comfort food” it is, the nutrient density, as well as how difficult it would be to make at home.
In other words, we don’t make just anything that happens to be paleo or AIP. We know how limiting being paleo or AIP can feel, which is why we love making dishes that are nostalgic or comforting. We also want to make sure that whatever we do is nourishing to the body, because we are all trying to heal and/or thrive! Finally, we look at how difficult it is to make at home. While no paleo or AIP dishes are as easy as going through a fast-food drive through, many dishes are much more difficult to make. We love to offer meals that seem too complex or time consuming to do yourself!
Taste testing
Now this is the fun part! Whenever our executive chef is working on a new recipe, there comes the time where our team gets to try it out! We fill out a survey form that includes things like overall taste, re-heatability, nutritional stats, and texture. If the dish is approved, we then choose a date to release it to our customers!
Watching the reviews and feedback
The work with our dishes doesn’t end once we release it to the public. We are constantly listening to feedback from you. That’s how we can consistently make adjustments and improve what we offer in a timely manner.
Help us choose our next meals!
