Paleo Gingerbread House
Gingerbread houses are a fun and tasty way to get the whole family involved. It’s a tradition that dates back to 10th century Europe, where ginger was used as a flavoring and a preservative. Once you learn the basic techniques, the possibilities are endless. Our paleo gingerbread house recipe will become a family favorite!
PALEO GINGERBREAD HOUSE
A paleo version of the gingerbread house.
INGREDIENTS
- 5 cups Cassava Flour
- 1 cup Coconut Flour
- 4 tsp. ground ginger
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1 ½ tsp. sea salt
- ¾ cup molasses
- ¾ cup honey
- 1 cup ghee
- 2 eggs
- 2 ½ cups water
HOUSE
- Choose gingerbread template online. Print it out and cut out the pieces.
- Mix all dough ingredients together in mixer. Roll out on a parchment paper with rolling pin until ?” thick. Lay templates on dough cutting around them and discarding scrap dough. Bake house parts at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until firm.
- Find nice flat board, cover with foil, start gluing house together with icing glue (recipe below) piping it along all seams and gluing them together. Use canned food or a book to support walls while icing dries. Use icing to glue on decorations such as dried fruits, nuts, or paleo chocolate chips.
ICING GLUE
- Grind coconut sugar in spice grinder until powder forms, add egg white and mix to form thick icing. Put icing into piping bag with small round tip.
