Grasshopper tacos

Are Grasshopper Tacos the Food of the Future?

Protein is an important part of any meal. For those of us who eat paleo, this portion usually comes down to the standard chicken, beef, pork, fish or eggs.

But, what if we were forgetting a whole part of the animal kingdom altogether... bugs?

Bugs and Your Diet

Around the world, many cultures enjoy insects as a nutritious and tasty part of their diet. And, it makes sense. They're easy to raise, full of animal protein, and low-impact on the environment. So, why don't those of us in the USA eat them? It's simply a taboo. After all, they were an essential part of the Paleo human's diet.

While we at Paleo On The Go have NO intention of adding grasshopper tacos to our pre-made paleo meals menu anytime soon, we are eternally curious about the future of real-food. With trendy restaurants nationwide starting to serve insects and cricket protein bars like Exo-Protein popping up left and right, we took notice.

We thought we could have some fun with this for Cinco De Mayo, so we asked our Sous Chef, Jay Lucas if he could make Chapulines, traditional Mexican Grasshopper tacos. If you're open minded, check out this recipe!
