AIP Snacks That Travel Well (No Cooler Needed)
Summer travel season is here. Let’s talk snacks.
When you're AIP, you can't just grab a random protein bar from the gas station or nibble airport pretzels and hope for the best. And dragging a cooler through TSA? Not exactly the summer vibes we’re going for.
Good news: there are plenty of AIP-friendly snacks that travel like champs. Whether you're road-tripping, flying cross-country, or just heading to the beach, here’s your ultimate no-cooler snack survival list.
DIY AIP Snacks (Yes, You Can Make These)
1. Jerky + Meat Sticks
Homemade jerky is easier than it sounds. Use AIP-friendly seasonings (think: sea salt, garlic, turmeric) and skip the soy, sugar, and weird stuff.
Try at home: Thin-slice grass-fed beef or turkey, marinate with coconut aminos, garlic, and apple cider vinegar, then dehydrate or bake low-and-slow.
Shortcut: Look for Chomps (AIP-friendly turkey stick), or Sweet Apricity's bone broth sticks (also shelf-stable).
2. Energy Balls
No dates, no nuts, no problem. Blend coconut butter, tigernut flour, dried fruit (like apple rings or blueberries), and a splash of maple syrup. Roll into bite-size bites and dust with cinnamon.
Wrap them in parchment paper and you’re good to go.
3. Plantain Chips + Dip
Buy AIP-compliant plantain chips (check for just plantains, coconut oil, and salt) and pair with a homemade guac or olive tapenade in a small leak-proof container.
Snack brands we love: Terra, Artisan Tropic, and Barnana (some flavors).
4. Dried Fruit + Coconut
Apple rings, mango slices, banana chips (unsweetened and no sulfites) + toasted coconut flakes make a great sweet fix.
Pro tip: Mix with a sprinkle of sea salt for a sweet-salty combo that hits every time.
Store-Bought AIP Favorites (No Kitchen Time Required)
🍪 Sweet Apricity Caramels & Marshmallows
Candy? On AIP? Believe it. These travel like a dream and taste like a cheat, but they’re totally compliant.
🥜 Wild Zora Bars
Made with veggies and meat. Think meatloaf in a bar, in the best way possible. Check ingredients carefully for nightshades.
🍠 Paleo Angel Power Balls (some flavors)
Tigernut-based and sweetened with honey, these are filling and portable. Just be sure to double-check the label if you're in strict elimination phase.
And don’t forget...
💚 Paleo On The Go Meals
Some of our meals don’t even need reheating (looking at you, empanadas and fig newtons). TSA-approved and hotel-room-friendly, they travel better than your neck pillow.
