5 Easy Ways to Stay On Track with Your AIP Diet This Summer (Without Skipping the Fun)
Summer’s here—longer days, backyard BBQs, beach trips, and…let’s be real, a lot of food you probably can’t eat. If you’re following the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), it can feel like every social event comes with a side of “I’ll just eat before I get there.” But you shouldn’t have to miss out. With a little planning (and maybe a stocked freezer), you can stick to your AIP goals and enjoy the season.
1. Be the One Who Brings the Good Food
If you’re invited to a cookout or picnic, offer to bring a dish. It doesn’t have to scream “AIP”—it just has to taste good. Think grilled pineapple, herb-marinated chicken, or a batch of our AIP Chicken Empanadas. No one will know it’s protocol-friendly unless you tell them (and even then, they’ll probably ask for the recipe).
2. Keep Emergency Meals on Hand
Travel plans? Late sunsets that throw off your normal dinner routine? That’s where we come in. Having ready-to-eat AIP meals in your freezer means you’re never stuck hungry or tempted to settle for something that might trigger a flare. We ship nationwide, and yes—they’re TSA-friendly.
3. Don’t Skip the Treats
AIP doesn’t mean no fun. It just means rethinking dessert. One of our summer favorites? Grilled Peaches with Coconut Cream.
Here’s how to make it:
-
Slice ripe peaches in half and remove the pit.
-
Brush lightly with coconut oil and grill cut-side down for 3–4 minutes, until they’ve got nice char marks.
-
While they cool slightly, whisk full-fat coconut milk (chilled overnight) until it forms soft peaks. Add a dash of vanilla if you tolerate it.
-
Serve warm peaches with a dollop of coconut cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or fresh mint.
It’s sweet, satisfying, and totally protocol-friendly. No oven, no weird ingredients—just real food that tastes like summer.
4. Hydration = Your Summer Superpower
Dehydration can sneak up fast in the heat—and it can also make symptoms worse. Keep water nearby, add a pinch of sea salt or splash of coconut water, and skip the sugary drinks. (But yes, mocktails totally count.)
5. Give Yourself Grace
Maybe your schedule is all over the place. Maybe you just want to relax. That’s allowed. One of the best things you can do for your health is reduce stress, and that includes food stress. Do your best, prep where you can, and let us take care of the rest.
